The brief
A role-playing group here in Melbourne wanted something better than a cardboard tube to roll their dice down: a proper centrepiece for the table, with somewhere to keep the dice between sessions. The answer became a digital tower design in the spirit of oriental architecture — tiered roofs, latticework and lantern reds — developed as a one-off commission.
A tower full of secrets
The two side towers fold out on hinges, each revealing a rack that holds three dice. The rooftop sections open too, uncovering two more hidden caches — so the build stows a complete set of polyhedral RPG dice, every d4 to d20 with a home of its own.
Drop a die in at the top and the interior takes over: a run of internal baffles is designed to vary its path on the way down before it exits through one of several release doors into the pool at the base. The physical roll performance will be tested and refined after the parts are sourced and the model is assembled.
